Vibralung Acoustical Percussor offers respiratory patients airway clearance therapy and can be used as either sole therapy or adjunct therapy. This lightweight, portable medical device is battery-powered and easy to use. The design of the Vibralung® allows it to be gentler in respiratory treatment, yet it covers a broader frequency spectrum than Acapella devices. Vibralung Acoustical Percussor generates sound waves between 5 and approximately 1,200 Hz.
Acoustical energy (sound waves) is coupled directly to the patient’s airway through a unique Hand-held Transducer (HHT) that contains a small high-fidelity loudspeaker. The HHT connects to the Treatment Control Unit (TCU) via a cable. The TCU can be held by the patient, positioned on a nearby table or even pole-mounted. The lightweight HHT (approximately one-half pound) is ergonomically designed for easy handling by patients of all ages.
Vibralung also includes Positive Expiratory Pressure (PEP) that can be applied simultaneously for its beneficial effects. Aerosol therapy, with the Circulaire II high-efficiency aerosol drug delivery system can also be used to concomitantly deliver respiratory medications.
Vibralung can help treat repiratory patients with cystic fibrosis, chronic bronchitis, bronchiectasis, pneumonia, ciliary dyskinesia syndromes, asthma, muscular dystrophy, post-operative atelectasis plus neuromuscular respiratory impairments, thoracic bellows defects, and any other cardiorespiratory or neuromuscular diseases that inhibit effective cough, mucokinesis, airway clearance and expectoration.
